Gary's 50th

I celebrated my 50th birthday at a little Italian Restaurant in Old Taipa called "La Cucina". The food is good and they have a room at the back for large groups. I invited 45, expecting 30, and finished up with 21. It was a good night and after getting kicked out of the restaurant at midnight (the philipino workers wanted us out at 11:30pm) we staggered off to MGM "Lion Bar" for one more?

It felt like the whole western population of Macau was at the Lion. It was packed.

From the Beginning

I might as well start at the beginning.

I arrived in Macau on Sunday 23 April 2006. After checking into the hotel I phoned Hugh Fraser and made arrangements to meet him for a drink. Hughs' role was (and still is) Director - Table Games (Wynn Club), and is the one responsible for offering me a role with Steve Wynns latest little venture, Wynn Macau.

We agreed to meet at Al's Diner, a Bar/Restaurant in Fishermans Wharf, a new shopping/eating/entertainment complex on the Macau Harbour and Ferry Terminal (opposite Sands Casino). It was a balmy night and after what I had seen so far of the seedy side of Macau, I was very impressed, and thought to myself "this ain't too bad"

I've started a blog

The following (or preceding depending on where you started) is my account of my stay in Macau.

I thought a blog would be a good way to let everyone know what I'm up to, as i'm not very good at staying in touch. I have back-dated the posting of this blog and will try and add historical events ... as well as current ones, over time
